Snap, Crackle, Pop: Women's Full-Contact Football Tryouts are here! Ladies, why let the guys have all the fun? Why be a fan when you can have the glory? The Tennessee Valley Tigers of the Independent Women's Football League will hold their first open tryout of the 2011 season on Saturday, August 28th. Tryouts will be held 4pm-6pm at Palmer Park, located at 574 Palmer Road in Madison, Alabama. In order to participate in the tryout, interested athletes must have proof of insurance and bring a $5 tryout fee. Come dressed in athletic apparel and bring cleats if you have them. Don't forget the water. Athletes will compete in agility drills, position-specific drills, ball drills for skill positions, and one-on-one drills for offensive linemen and defensive linemen. All roster positions are open. Last year, the majority of rookies added to the roster were discovered during several tryouts. Many of them crossed over to football with experience in other women's sports such as softball, soccer, basketball, track and volleyball. Some had no sports experience at all. Not sure if football is for you? We understand that many women don't get the opportunity to play full-contact tackle football. Our knowledgeable and experienced coaching staff will educate you about the game so you can play safely. The women of the Tigers range in all ages and sizes. Whether you are 18 or 50, feel free to come out and give it a try. You may just surprise yourself at how good you are! The Tigers will be in our third season in Huntsville in 2011. Teams the Tigers face range from the Memphis Belles, the Carolina Phoenix, the Clarksville Fox, and the Louisville Nightmare among others. The Belles came out on top with a score of 28-0.
